Instructors
"I like getting the kids involved in technical subjects and inspiring them to build on the skills they learn."
—TechKnowHow Instructor
TechKnowHow camps feature a teaching team of a lead instructor and one or two assistant instructors. Lead instructors are often school teachers during the year, or professionals who work in the technology field. They are joined by instructors who are typically college students, working towards an education or computer science degree.
Teachers complete training, both in the specific course content which they will teach, as well as in general student interaction and camp management.
All staff undergo background checks, including fingerprinting and reference reviews.
Meet Our Instructors
Bob Mancini, CEO
Bob started TechKnowHow in 1994 so that students could explore and use technology in interesting ways. First through creative classroom projects, and then through after-school enrichment and summer programs, Bob found ways for students to combine technology with their creativity and higher-level thinking, such as visual programming for elementary school students. He designed and taught the courses over the first ten years and continues to oversee the development of our program curriculum.
Bob graduated from UCLA, has a Masters in Science from Carnegie-Mellon (MSIA), and a post-baccalaureate teaching certificate.

Instructors' Perspectives on Camp
"It is so rewarding when the kids leave at the end of the week with a strong interest in building and coding."
"I enjoy working with kids one-on-one and stoking their curiosity."
"I like to see kids smile and to proudly show their projects to others."
"I really like debugging code with students. It is so exciting, later, when students have learned enough to fix the problems on their own!"
